Fatima, child with malnutrition in Yemen

Fatima is 10 months old, she was admitted to a hospital in Sana’a, Yemen after her mother grew concerned over Fatima’s month-long diarrhoea. Medical staff found that she was suffering from a severe intestinal problem, vomiting, diarrhoea, listlessness and a weakened pulse. Fatima was diagnosed with malnutrition and dehydration, resulting in kidney failure. She was put on a treatment programme that included fluids and antibiotics to help her recover back to good health.

UNICEF is for every child, and so is Ramadan

Parwana was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition during her previous visit to the health centre. As part of Parwana's treatment, her mother brings her to the clinic every four weeks for screening and to provide her with additional RUTF (Ready-to-use therapeutic food) if needed. Nearly 58 per cent of children in Afghanistan were living in monetary poverty and 56 per cent of children lived in multi-dimensional poverty, i.e facing deprivations in one or more dimensions of poverty.

Sajeed, child in Afghanistan

2-year-old Sajeed’s family has received cash assistance from UNICEF, to help meet critical needs like food. In Afghanistan, the situation has become dire for many families on the brink of poverty. Cash assistance is being distributed by UNICEF to help vulnerable families. Your Sadaqah will help us reach many more children like him. This money will help them meet critical needs like food this Ramadan.
