Sophia is four years old and has a fragile body: she weighs less than 9 kilograms and is almost 80 centimeters tall. For Sophia, every step is a challenge, and every movement must be done with care, because the slightest fall can cause fractures.
Sophia wants to go to kindergarten, to learn, to discover and to grow at her own pace, surrounded by the simple joy of being with other children.
And to make her wishes come true, a social worker from the community has come into her life, offering a helping hand and support that guides Sophia and her family every step of the way. The social worker has helped the family obtain the necessary documents and the allowance to which Sophia is entitled. She is also taking steps to enroll her in kindergarten, with her mother present in the classroom, so that Sophia can learn and play safely.
For vulnerable children like Sophia, love means care, gentle watchful eyes, and steps accompanied by patience and trust. Social workers build invisible but essential bridges in communities, with care and love for people, to services and resources for vulnerable children and their families. Through these gestures of care, they offer children like Sophia the chance for a better childhood, education, safety, and hope.
