Help David and other children like him. Donate now!

David is 11 years old and cannot walk. At birth, his weight was barely over one kilogram. Doctors gave him almost no chance to survive, but David did.
Despite the weight of many diagnoses, including spastic tetraparesis and autism spectrum disorder, David is a curious child who loves wholeheartedly.

“I’ve always pictured him walking and I know that God will make a miracle,” says David’s mother, through tears but with a voice full of hope

With the support of a dedicated physiotherapist who visits him every week, David is making progress. Besides physiotherapy, he also receives general stimulation sessions that help him maintain a proper muscle tone. These therapies support the recovery of his legs while also building confidence in his own body.

The family is supported by Iuliana, the community social worker, a gentle and discreet presence who offers them guidance and comfort. Iuliana has assisted the family through every step: helping them to prepare the documentation for the disability certificate, to enroll David in school, to obtain his educational orientation certificate and accessing the minimum inclusion income and school support allowance.

The presence of a social worker like Iuliana is essential in the community and represents a chance for a better life for vulnerable children and families who seek counseling and the assurance that tangible solutions are available for their needs.

For David and other children like him, the support of a social worker opens the doors to medical, social, and educational services. Sustained, long-term support is crucial for these children to live a happy childhood and reach their full potential.

To contribute to a fundamental change in the lives of vulnerable children, the longer you choose to get involved, the more powerful your donation will be.

Vulnerable children’s lives can be improved with your constant support. By donating, you become an active part of the solution and of the change process.

The money raised is used where it is needed for vulnerable children. For example, to provide free access to specialized services for vulnerable children in Romania or offer a rapid and effective response to children affected by wars and natural disasters.

UNICEF asks for monthly contributions to help us provide sustainable long-term solutions to help children around the world.

A monthly gift is a recurring gift amount that you choose to send each month, and it is even more impactful because you're helping children every single day.

Your monthly gift will also enable us to plan effectively in our upcoming work, reduce costs and most importantly, reach even more children in need. The support and generosity of monthly donors contribute significantly to UNICEF efforts to help vulnerable children.

We will be sending you regular updates about UNICEF’s work for children in Romania and around the world.
