There are 38,749 children with disabilities living in Belarus, many of whom live in orphanages and specialized boarding schools. Some people can't move, eat, or talk about their feelings on their own.
About 600 children need high-quality assistance in organizing inclusive nutrition. 109 children under palliative care have a particular difficulty. Their needs are complex, and their condition requires special attention.
Malnutrition = weakened immune system, illness, loss of skills, slow intellectual development.
These children cannot be treated, but they can be provided with a decent quality of life. Nutrition and feeding are the most important components for ensuring optimal growth and development for such children.

If we optimize the process of feeding children with disabilities (train specialists from boarding schools, arrange individual nutrition selection, purchase special equipment or food), then we can significantly improve their quality of life. They can gain the necessary weight, their health and emotional state will improve, and in some situations, they can return to their family with loving parents or get into the family environment of a foster family.
UNICEF in Belarus, together with experts from the Republican Clinical Center for Palliative Care for Children, is implementing an inclusive nutrition programme. And for the comprehensive implementation of the programme, financial support is needed in all boarding schools.
