Help Ștefan and other children so they can have a better life

In the city of Isaccea in Tulcea county, a mother and father are carefully raising their two children, a girl and a boy. The oldest son, Ștefan, is just nine. They live from one day to the next, with few resources but a lot of love.

When Stefan's mother Elena looks at her son, her heart is full and heavy at the same time. He doesn't utter a word, and his silence weighs heavily on her mother's heart. Elena recalls:

‘‘When he was three, I realized he was different. He didn't talk, didn't play with the other children. He was so quiet, too quiet’

They hoped it was just a delay that he would easily recover. But the diagnosis fell like a stone: nonverbal autism.

Since then, there have followed years of expensive therapies, long journeys, and moving from city to city in search of the best specialists. Today, a therapist manages to come to the village once a week with the support of the social worker.

Stefan and other children like him have a right to dignity. They need the warm, discreet and life-saving help that a social worker can bring into their lives and the lives of their families, a social worker to guide the family and help Stefan access the specialized services he needs: speech therapy, physiotherapy, counselling, medical services. Today you can touch their lives.

The support provided by social workers is essential to help vulnerable families have a better life.

Donate now and support vulnerable children in Romania. Together we can give them a chance to a better life. Thank you.

You choose for how long you wish to donate: monthly or only once. In order to contribute to a fundamental change in the lives of vulnerable children, the longer you choose to get involved, the more powerful your donation will be. Vulnerable children’s lives can improve with your long-term, constant support. By donating, you become an active part of the solution and of the change process

The money raised is used where it is needed for vulnerable children. For example, to provide free access to specialized services for vulnerable children in Romania or offer a rapid and effective response to children affected by wars and natural disasters.

UNICEF asks for monthly contributions to help us provide sustainable long-term solutions to help children around the world.

A monthly gift is a recurring gift amount that you choose to send each month, and it is even more impactful because you're helping children every single day.

Your monthly gift will also enable us to plan effectively in our upcoming work, reduce costs and most importantly, reach even more children in need. The support and generosity of monthly donors contribute significantly to UNICEF efforts to help vulnerable children.
