Some children can walk for hours just to reach school and learn, while others are transported in comfortable vehicles in leafy suburbs (and still, 81 percent of Grade 4 learners in South Africa cannot read for meaning). Some children still lose their lives in their mother’s arms, arriving at clinics too late for treatment. And at least three children die daily from violent attacks.
