Help us turn hunger into hope!

The Challenge:  In Botswana, 1 in every 5 children below five years are stunted (low height for age due to chronic undernutrition). Stunted children tend to perform poorly in school and never achieve their full potential.

The Solution:   UNICEF is supporting community-based surveillance of moderate and severe acute malnutrition in districts with high prevalence rates, including Ghanzi, Charleshill, Hukuntsi, and Boteti. This work strengthens early detection and timely treatment for vulnerable children.

At the same time, UNICEF is promoting positive feeding practices for children under five, equipping caregivers with knowledge on age-appropriate and nutritious diets to improve child health outcomes.

To combat food insecurity worsened by drought, UNICEF is also working with the Government of Botswana to provide Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). This life-saving intervention gives children suffering from acute malnutrition the vital nutrition they need to recover.

Be the change. Help create a healthier future for children in need

Every donation, no matter the amount, plays a vital role in helping us continue this critical work and ensures that we can reach even more children in need. Your generosity and support allow us to remain focused on giving every child the opportunity to survive and thrive, enabling us to continue to:

  • Support the Government of Botswana and partners in reducing stunting from 19.8% in 2016 to 10% in 2026 through improved nutrition programs and increased access to fortified foods.
  • Identify and treat All children with severe acute malnutrition in 4 burdened districts in 2025 alone.
  • Scale up community-based services, early detection, and preventive care to ensure timely and effective support for vulnerable children.

💙 Together, we can end child malnutrition. For Every Child.

The time to act is now — because children are the future.

We’ve joined forces with the civil society, businesses, academia, and the government, but without your support, we can't reach every child in need.

You choose for how long you wish to donate: monthly or only once. In order to contribute to a fundamental change in the lives of vulnerable children, the longer you choose to get involved, the more powerful your donation will be. Vulnerable children’s lives can improve if you are a part of and contribute to the work that we are doing, and to the solutions that we are providing. By donating, you become an active part of the solution and change process.

A monthly donation is a recurring gift amount that you choose to send each month, and it is even more impactful, as this means that you'll be helping children every single day.

Your monthly gift will also enable us to plan effectively in our upcoming work, reduce costs and most importantly, reach even more children in need. The support and generosity of monthly donors contribute significantly to UNICEF's efforts to help vulnerable children.

Your donation is used to support UNICEF's programmes for children in need in Botswana.

UNICEF encourages monthly donations to help us deliver sustainable, long-term solutions for children both in the region and globally.
