UNICEF Thailand will support those children most affected with a cash grant. This grant will enable their families to meet the urgent nutrition, health and hygiene needs of children as well as secure essential school supplies so they may return to learning. In addition, UNICEF will identify evacuation sites in need of child friendly spaces to monitor and respond to potential cases in need of child protection.
UNICEF staff during the assessment of the flood-affected area in Ubon Ratchathani province. Due to the influence of Podul and Kajiki storms, 32 provinces had been affected and 23 provinces have been declared in the state of emergency. Currently, the flood situation still remains in 4 provinces (Ubon Ratchathai, Roi-Et, Si Sa Ket, and Yasothon). Ubon Ratchathani is the last province receiving the mass of water from Chi and Mun rivers before going down to Khong river at the border between Thailand and Lao PDR.
