Right now, families in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe are dealing with the devastation brought by Cyclone Idai.

UNICEF is responding on a massive scale to meet the needs of children and their families. We are moving quickly to have health services up and running, stop the spread of cholera, and help avert a hunger crisis.

“It is heart-breaking to see the destruction and what it means for our children. We are here, present and committed, day and night, to make sure that children have shelter, clean water and access to health, we are fighting cholera and stopping the spread of disease. Nothing is stopping us.”

– Tina Mucavele, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF Mozambique

Children need a safe place to stay and support to recover from the trauma they have endured. Temporary classrooms are providing a way for them to return to school and begin to hope for a future.
