Severe drought is threatening children’s lives

Malnutrition is threatening the future of children in Somalia, the Horn of Africa and around the world.

Families in Somalia grow more desperate by the day as prolonged drought worsens – killing crops and livestock and drying up essential water supplies.

Sadly, as a result, more than 1.4 million children across Somalia could suffer from acute malnutrition in the months to come. That’s nearly half of the country’s children under five.

The ongoing emergency in Somalia and other Horn of Africa nations is depriving children and their families of a home, a meal, a classroom and access to life-saving health services.

UNICEF is on the ground providing emergency support for children and their families, as well as helping communities prepare for the increasing number of hardships inflicted by climate change.

Your support will help provide immediate and life-saving assistance to children.

Children under five years – like one-year-old Salman – are among the most vulnerable in Somalia as drought and conflict persists. Salman is severely malnourished and needs urgent treatment to survive.

Through your support, UNICEF can supply life-saving therapeutic food to children like Salman. Please donate today to help children in Somalia receive the treatment they need and deserve.

Your donation today will save lives

Malnutrition robs children of a childhood – it threatens their overall health, wellbeing, and ability to learn and play. If left untreated, children die preventable deaths.

With your generosity, UNICEF can help diagnose, treat, and prevent malnutrition and purchase sachets of therapeutic food that save the life of children in Somalia, the Horn of Africa and many other areas across the world.

Please donate today to help more children in the critical months to come.
