We still have a long way to go.
SURVIVAL
A newborn dies every minute in India & over 9.5 lakh children under the age of 5 die each year.
UNICEF helps save millions of babies around India in 840 Special Newborn Care Units (SNCU). Here, healthcare professionals are trained especially in rural areas where hospitals are scarce, and staff is less in number.
EDUCATION
Even in today’s age, over 60 lakh children between the age of 6-13 years are out of school.
UNICEF helps in enabling quality and grade-appropriate education for both boys and girls. This is done through fostering life skills, employability skills and career guidance support in lower and upper secondary education.
NUTRITION
Around 44 million children are stunted, 24 million are wasted and 41 million are underweight.
UNICEF works closely with partners to help the most vulnerable and deprived children ensuring each child gets the best start and develops to his or her full potential.
