Did you know?

That children are still struggling? Repeated and prolonged school closures in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic has left a devastating impact on children’s learning and their future.

We need to focus on learning recovery, especially foundational learning, which is essential for children and youth to thrive in today’s world.

AND FOR THAT, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

UNICEF relies on voluntary contributions to bridge the gap so that every child in India can learn and achieve their full potential. Your support will help us reach children across India through programmes that help ensure that they have access to what is required to have a fulfilled childhood.

Besides learning, school closures also impact vulnerable children and young people in other ways – by impacting their mental health, social interaction, physical fitness and making them more susceptible to abuse.

How is UNICEF helping children during this learning crisis?

UNICEF is supporting several states to track children and help bring them back to school.  Efforts including organizing back-to-school campaigns, awareness and outreach initiatives, and learning recovery programs at schools and in the communities, are being supported. Teachers will need additional support including capacity building for addressing diverse learning levels of children in their classrooms, embed use of technology for teaching-learning and adapting to hybrid teaching in situations when schools may need to close again.
