UNICEF continues to support government’s efforts to reduce child stunting in most vulnerable populations. This is done by:
- Counselling, guiding and assisting adolescent girls and women from conception to two years since malnourished mothers are more likely to have malnourished children
- Promoting early onset of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding for first six months for the infant
- Improving feeding practices for children between 6 and 18 months of age
- Promoting usage of locally available, nutrient-dense affordable foods
- Strengthening the delivery of health, hygiene and nutrition services for mothers and young children
- Improving water facilities to reduce the likelihood of catching water-borne diseases
