UNICEF is working along with the Government and partners to improve the quality and relevance of education and addressing violence in schools. The need for monthly support had never been greater as the COVID-19 has brought many new challenges in the continuity of the education system, especially for the most vulnerable children.
School closures have impacted 247 million children enrolled in elementary and secondary education and 28 million children who were attending pre-school education in anganwadi centres. This is in addition to the more than 6 million girls and boys who were already out of school prior to the COVID-19 crisis.
Your monthly support will enable UNICEF along with the Government and partners to train teachers and assess children’s reading and writing abilities appropriate to their grade; work with local communities to raise awareness on the benefits of keeping girls in schools and the danger of child marriage; help parents of children with disabilities, while training educators regularly to bridge the gap in learning; support children in tea gardens having limited access to digital resources to continue their education; and building on the existing community volunteer support programme for tracking out of school children to support their learning through volunteers from the vulnerable communities.
