Children in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, are receiving polio vaccines as part of of a vaccination campaign. Vaccination teams operate daily from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, with mobile units extending their reach throughout the region.
The situation in Gaza is catastrophic.
Since October 2023, children and families in Gaza have been living in fear, as ongoing attacks and displacement continue. Every child in Gaza has experienced trauma, including destruction of their homes and communities, and severe shortages of the essentials such as food, water and medicine.
Over 1.7 million people have been internally displaced, with about half of them being children.
Many have sought refuge in overcrowded shelters, where access to water, sanitation, and hygiene is extremely limited.
These conditions are especially dangerous for young children.
