After more than a year of relentless conflict, the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza offers a glimmer of hope for children and families who have endured so much.

The war has brought unimaginable devastation to Gaza’s children, claiming the lives of over 14,500, leaving thousands injured, and separating an estimated 17,000 from their parents and caregivers.

Nearly one million have been displaced, many left wondering if they even have a home to return to.

How is UNICEF supporting children in Gaza?

UNICEF is on the ground, delivering lifesaving support to children and families in Gaza during these critical times:

Emergency Cash Assistance: Over 588,000 children supported with direct cash transfers to meet essential needs.

Restoring Education: 52,000 children learning and playing safely in 99 Temporary Learning Spaces. Clean Water Access: Safe water provided to 1.8 million people, including 700,000 children.

Health Services: 556,774 children vaccinated against polio; mobile health teams deployed to priority shelters.

Fighting Malnutrition: 68,000 children screened, with 3,578 treated for acute malnutrition, including 7,000 for severe cases at risk of mortality.

Protecting Vulnerable Children: Psychosocial support, family reunifications, and legal aid provided to displaced and at-risk children.

Winter Relief: Flood prevention and essential winter supplies distributed to displaced families. These efforts are critical to safeguarding the health, well-being, and future of Gaza’s children.

The war has already cost children so much pain and suffering.

UNICEF is working tirelessly to expand the response in Gaza in this critical moment, bringing life-saving assistance to even more children and families in desperate need.
