Myanmar Earthquake Deepens Crisis for Children Amid Conflict and Climate Shocks

This earthquake is yet another blow to a country already grappling with escalating conflict and recurring climate shocks.

Myanmar, 2025  Myanmar earthquake

What is happening in Myanmar?

A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake has struck Myanmar, leaving children suffering and urgently in need of support.

Hundreds of lives have been lost, and countless more are injured, trapped, or displaced. Children and their families are in urgent need—without food, clean water, or medical care.

The earthquakes come on top of an already dire situation. Myanmar is now in its fourth year of escalating conflict, with millions of children already living in fear, displacement and poverty.

Your support can help rush life-saving aid to children caught in this crisis.

UNICEF is deeply concerned about the impact of the earthquakes on children and families in Myanmar.

Buildings and roads have been badly damaged in Sagaing, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay—home to hundreds of thousands of children. The quakes come on top of four years of conflict, fear, and displacement for millions.

Our teams are on the ground, assessing the damage and preparing to deliver urgent, life-saving support.

You can help rush life-saving aid to children in crisis.

Your donation can help UNICEF deliver emergency supplies, including safe water, medical aid, temporary shelter, and nutrition support—wherever the need is greatest.

💙 This is a moment for compassion, and a time to act. Children are counting on us.
