On 5 March 2026, in Beirut, Lebanon, evacuation warnings issued across several areas of Lebanon have triggered large movements of families seeking safety. Thousands of people, including many children, fled their homes in the south and the southern suburbs of Beirut, with many gathering in the streets or attempting to reach safer areas. Children are among the most affected as families face displacement, uncertainty and limited access to essential services.

Help children affected by conflict in Lebanon
Escalating hostilities in Lebanon are forcing thousands of families to flee their homes, with shelters filling quickly and children facing growing risks to their safety and well-being.
In Mount Lebanon, 12-year-old Zeinab sits in a public school that has been turned into a shelter for families displaced by escalating violence. Many families fled their homes in southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut seeking safety.
UNICEF teams are on the ground providing emergency supplies including mattresses, blankets, clean water and hygiene, baby and dignity kits.
Help children facing malnutrition in Gaza
Across Gaza City, many families are struggling to put food on the table as conflict and economic hardship limit access to nutritious food. Children are increasingly at risk of malnutrition, including Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
UNICEF is providing Ready-to-Use Complementary Food (RUCF) to help young children receive the essential nutrients they need to grow and stay healthy.
Help young children stay healthy in Syria
In Latmana, Hama, one-year-old Rajaa eats a fortified nutrient supplement provided by UNICEF to support healthy growth and help prevent malnutrition.
After years of displacement, Rajaa’s family returned home to find their house destroyed and now live in a tent while rebuilding their lives.
Through UNICEF’s cash assistance and nutrition support, Rajaa’s mother is able to buy more nutritious food and receive guidance on feeding young children, helping improve Rajaa’s health and development.
Help children survive the crisis in Yemen
Yemen remains one of the most dangerous places for a child today. After more than seven years of conflict, thousands of children have been killed or injured. For many, the daily reality is a deadly mix of violence, disease and malnutrition.
UNICEF, in partnership with Canada, delivered medical supplies and Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to help treat malnourished children at health facilities such as Alqatei Health Facility in Aden.
UNICEF urgently calls on all parties to uphold their obligations under international law, and to ensure the protection of civilians. Under international humanitarian law, the lives and wellbeing of children must always be protected.
UNICEF continues to closely monitor the situation and stands ready to support the humanitarian efforts to assist children and families affected by the escalating violence.
