A young girl holds onto a railing outside her family’s partially destroyed home in Gaza City. Living among the rubble of an air strike, she is one of 60 children and 20 adults from the same family trying to find normalcy amidst the chaos. This is their reality—where the ruins become a playground and hope hangs by a thread.
Seven-month-old Genan eats therapeutic food at Damazine Children's Hospital in Blue Nile state. Orphaned shortly after birth, she was left in the care of her aunt and, just nine days later, was near death from severe malnutrition. Thanks to UNICEF, she received life-saving treatment and nutritious Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). After two months, her health has improved, and her weight has increased from 3 to 5.4 kilograms.
Rayan (4) stands with his mother and little sister after fleeing the escalating violence in Lebanon. They arrived at the Syrian border in Jdeidet Yabous on 28 September 2024. 'We left Beirut at 4 AM; my children are terrified by the sounds of explosions,' Rayan’s mother shared. Since 23 September 2024, thousands of families have crossed into Syria, arriving in a state of physical and psychological distress after journeys that sometimes last up to two days.
Hajera (11) receives medical care in her neighbor’s house after surviving a devastating flash flood in Shaikh Jalal Village, Afghanistan. The floods destroyed her home, taking away all their belongings—money, clothes, and food. Hajera's lungs filled with fluid, and she needs urgent treatment. 'The flood took everything, including my books. I can’t go to school without them,' she says. Seasonal flooding has wreaked havoc across Baghlan Province, destroying over 3,000 homes and leaving families in desperate need of assistance."

In Yemen, over 75,000 cases of acute watery diarrhea and suspected cholera have been reported, hitting children the hardest amid the ongoing conflict and economic collapse. UNICEF is on the ground, providing vital care through Oral Rehydration Centres (ORCs) to help affected families regain their health and hope.
Hlib (7) sits in a temporary shelter in Mala Pavlivka, Ukraine, after fleeing his village, which was devastated by shelling. Both he and his four-year-old sister Marharyta were injured, and their family had no choice but to escape. ‘I want to go home,’ he says, reflecting the longing for safety and normalcy. Living in a hostel, Hlib and his family are haunted by memories of destruction and the fear that still lingers in their hearts. As they navigate this uncertain new life, they hold onto hope amidst the chaos.
