Adelin wants to walk. You can help him.

Adelin, a five-year-old boy from Tulcea, Romania, dreams of taking his first steps. Born prematurely, he was diagnosed with spastic paraparesis. His mother, Adriana, recalls the doctor’s words: "He told me that he was a child with problems, that he wouldn’t walk... And since then, we've been running from hospital to hospital." A new chapter of the struggle began, one filled with surgeries, therapies, and long trips to Galați, Bucharest, and Techirghiol.

Despite surgeries, therapies, and arduous trips for treatment, Adelin's spirit remains unbroken. His mother has tirelessly fought for his well-being, even sacrificing her own comfort to ensure he receives the care he needs.

"As a parent, it’s very hard when you see other children walking and ours can’t... We’ve been everywhere, to make him better, to help him walk. You can really see the progress, a lot of progress, but there’s still work to be done. We hope that, slowly, maybe one day we’ll succeed.", his mother hopes.

From the social worker in their community, the mother learned how she can get access to free and much needed kinetotherapy sessions, which make such a big difference in Adelin’s life.

UNICEF is working to ensure that Adelin and other children like him, along with their families, receive support from social workers to get access to quality services such as speech therapy, kinetotherapy, medical care, which are essential for children with special needs.

You choose for how long you wish to donate: monthly or only once. In order to contribute to a fundamental change in the lives of vulnerable children, the longer you choose to get involved, the more powerful your donation will be. Vulnerable children’s lives can improve with your long-term, constant support. By donating, you become an active part of the solution and of the change process

The money raised is used where it is needed for vulnerable children. For example, to provide free access to specialized services for vulnerable children in Romania or offer a rapid and effective response to children affected by wars and natural disasters.

UNICEF asks for monthly contributions to help us provide sustainable long-term solutions to help children around the world.

A monthly gift is a recurring gift amount that you choose to send each month, and it is even more impactful because you're helping children every single day.

Your monthly gift will also enable us to plan effectively in our upcoming work, reduce costs and most importantly, reach even more children in need. The support and generosity of monthly donors contribute significantly to UNICEF efforts to help vulnerable children.
