“Hunger and acute malnutrition are a daily reality for children across the Gaza Strip,” said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.
For over a year, children in Gaza have endured unimaginable hardship—losing their homes, loved ones, education, and access to basic essentials like food, clean water and medical supplies. Now, the latest IPC report shows the situation has grown even more dire, putting children at risk of famine.
The report also projects that over 71,000 children and more than 17,000 mothers will need urgent treatment for acute malnutrition—caused by prolonged hunger, contaminated water, and collapsing health systems.
Hanadi, a mother from Khan Younis, is living through that reality.
But mothers like Hanadi haven’t given up. And neither have we.
UNICEF teams are still on the ground— providing essential support to children fighting malnutrition, clean water, keeping health centres running, and creating safe spaces where children can learn and hold on to a sense of normalcy, even in the middle of crisis.
And we have more aid ready at the borders—waiting to enter the moment blockade is lifted.
We are not stopping. Not now. Not when children need us most.
With your help, we can stay and support children today—and be ready to reach even more the moment the borders open.
Please, help us keep going.
