Beatrice is an energetic 6-year-old who would run all day in the field outside the house gate if she had full strength in her legs. The little girl steps crookedly and hesitantly because of a foot problem that has affected her muscle tone.
Beatrice's health problems would have worsened even more if the Integrated Community Center had not opened in the commune. Here, children from vulnerable families receive free access to specialized services, depending on their needs.
At the center, Beatrice received the correct diagnosis in time and began her recovery. Thanks to this UNICEF initiative, Beatrice underwent physical therapy sessions which helped her walk more confidently, run and enjoy her childhood. Her condition has improved, but she still needs help.
In order to enjoy a better life, Beatrice needs various therapies, which are otherwise difficult to access.
UNICEF in Romania supports children with disabilities like Beatrice, through the development of Integrated Community Centers. In these centers, children can access specialized services for free, such as:
- physical therapy;
- speech therapy;
- psychological counseling.
There are currently five such centers in the country and we need your help to provide specialized services to children in need.
Your monthly donation is very important to Beatrice and other children like her.
Thank you for choosing to help children smile again!
