While children in Sudan continue to face devastating conflict, the violence is also deeply impacting neighbouring South Sudan, as families flee in search of safety. South Sudan was already facing one of the world’s most complex humanitarian emergencies, marked by conflict, flooding, hunger, and disease. The arrival of refugees from Sudan is placing even greater strain on fragile communities and essential services.

Your support helps UNICEF respond wherever children are affected by the Sudan or the South Sudan crisis,  delivering life-saving food, healthcare, clean water, and protection to children. Timely action can save lives.

If you have ever wondered: can I really help? The answer is yes. You can. Every single donation makes a difference. I’ve seen it. I’ve felt it and I believe in it now more than ever.” - Liam Neeson, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

URGENT APPEAL – Children in Sudan need you now

Sudan is facing a devastating hunger and displacement crisis

Famine conditions have been confirmed in Al Fasher and Kadugli, while violence in North Darfur has forced over 81,000 people to flee since late October.

Reception sites are overwhelmed, and children remain at extreme risk.  More than 850 children with acute malnutrition are receiving treatment , but needs are growing fast.

In the Kordofan States, conflict has sharply escalated, displacing nearly 37,000 people in just 10 days. Over 1,350 individuals have accessed psychosocial support and gender-based violence (GBV) services, including trauma care and emergency assistance.

Ibrahim, 11, fled violence in Al Fasher, Sudan. During their escape, a shell landed near him, killing his brother and severely injuring his leg. With winter approaching , Ibrahim and thousands of other children urgently need blankets, warm clothes, food, clean water, and a safe place to stay. Your support can help give them hope and protection.

“A shell hit us on the road.” – Ibrahim, 11

Ibrahim, 11, fled violence in Al Fasher, Sudan. During their escape, a shell landed near him, killing his brother and severely injuring his leg.

“We left him behind,” he says quietly. “We had to run for our lives.” After weeks of fear and travel, he finally reached a UNICEF-supported shelter in Tawila, where he received medical care and a bag of notebooks and crayons – something deeply important for a child who has lived through so much.

With winter approaching , Ibrahim and thousands of other children urgently need blankets, warm clothes, food, clean water, and a safe place to stay.

Your support can help give them hope and protection.

Why does monthly giving change lives?

Without immediate and continous aid, children are exposed to hunger, harsh cold, disease, and danger. Your gift can turn fear into hope and give children a chance to survive and dream of a brighter future.

Every day counts and you can:

  • Keep essential supplies like therapeutic food, medicines and blankets moving where they’re needed most
  • Help clinics, nutrition centres and safe spaces for children stay open and running
  • Make sure support continues for children even after the headlines move on

Be the reason a packet of hope is there on time

It doesn’t look like much at first glance. A small packet. But this is a peanut-based therapeutic paste that children can eat straight from the sachet.

For a child whose body has been weakened by severe malnutrition, that packet is life-saving. It’s energy, nutrients, and a second chance wrapped together – a packet of hope.

Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) is a specially formulated, peanut-based paste packed with calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals. It’s designed to treat severe wasting in children under 5 – one of the deadliest forms of malnutrition in the world.

Taken regularly over six to eight weeks, RUTF can help a child gain weight, regain their strength, and start to recover from life-threatening malnutrition.

Your donation helps UNICEF procure and deliver more of these life-saving packets to the children who need them most.

How does your gift saves lives?

Almost every day, children are caught in one crisis after another. For children in South Sudan, Chad, the Sahel, the DRC, Gaza, and beyond, this can mean losing access to food, safe water, health care, and school sometimes overnight.

UNICEF teams are responding to hundreds of emergencies every year, working to reach the children who are most at risk – restoring water systems, supporting clinics, delivering therapeutic food and setting up safe spaces to learn and play.

Your generosity can change the lives of millions of children. By giving today, you become a lifeline – ensuring no child faces life threatening crises alone.

No donation is too small, and any donation can help save children's lives.

You choose for how long you wish to donate: monthly or only once. In order to contribute to a fundamental change in the lives of vulnerable children, the longer you choose to get involved, the more powerful your donation will be. Vulnerable children’s lives can improve if you are a part and contribute to the work that we are doing, and to the solutions that we are providing. By donating, you become an active part of the solution and of the change process.

A monthly donation is a recurring gift amount that you choose to send each month, and it is even more impactful, as this means that you'll be helping children every single day.

Your monthly gift will also enable us to plan effectively in our upcoming work, reduce costs and most importantly, reach even more children in need. The support and generosity of monthly donors contribute significantly to UNICEF's efforts to help vulnerable children.

For the moment, we don’t have offline fundraisers that are collecting donations for UNICEF. You can support our efforts in helping vulnerable children by donating online on this webpage.

As UNICEF, we will never reach out to private individuals via personal messages on Facebook, Instagram, or other channels.

Please do not share any sensitive/banking card information with any individuals who may ask you for this type of information, either online or offline.

Yes, you will receive an automatic "Thank You" email which can be used as a receipt for your donation.

At the moment, UNICEF does not offer individual child sponsorship. Instead, your donation supports a wide range of essential programmes that protect all children: access to safe water and sanitation, nutrition and treatment for malnutrition, vaccinations, education, child protection, and emergency humanitarian assistance. This approach ensures that your contribution reaches the most vulnerable children across Senegal, West and Central Africa, and beyond – wherever the needs are greatest.
