This winter, millions of children around the world will face life-threatening conditions due to freezing temperatures. You can make a difference.

UNICEF is on the frontlines, working tirelessly to provide life-saving support to vulnerable children in the hardest-hit regions affected by conflict, displacement, and disaster. Your regular support can provide warm clothing, emergency nutrition supplies, clean water, and essential medical care to those who need it most.

Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, warm, and loved. Will you stay with them through this harsh winter and beyond?

A Reason to Smile

Your support brings smiles to more children like Sahar

Six-year-old Sahar, living in Afghanistan’s Panjshir Province, beams with joy in her new winter boots. Sahar lives with her mother and five siblings in Panjshir Province, Afghanistan. After losing her father, Sahar and her family have struggled to make ends meet and have no way to heat their home in winter.

Sahar, 6 years old, holds a new pair of boots from a UNICEF winter clothing kit on 14 March 2023 in Panjshir Province, Afghanistan.

"We live off the land, but we have no other income. We sometimes get small amounts of money from neighbors, or we borrow money to buy coal and wood for our heater." says Sahar’s mother

For families like hers, each winter brings new fears as temperatures plunge to -20 degrees Celsius. Without immediate help, the freezing weather becomes life-threatening for children like her. The lack of warmth increases the risk of hypothermia, and limited access to food and clean water threatens their very survival.

Winter can be deadly for children in crisis—but together, we can make sure it doesn’t have to be.

By choosing to stay with children like Sahar, your monthly support provides warmth, safety, and the hope they need to survive.

Your impact this winter and beyond

When you choose to stay, you’re providing more than winter relief—you’re giving children ongoing care and hope. Monthly donations allow UNICEF to respond to urgent winter needs and sustain essential programs year-round.

We couldn’t have done it without the donors like you

I was once a victim of a crisis. The experience was tough. The man who accommodated us treated us nicely. I know there are a lot of people out there who need help daily. To me, it doesn't matter whether you have all or not. With the little you have; you can put a smile on someone else's face.

Children are our future, so if their present is dark, our future is dark. We have an authentic channel and organization for supporting social causes. This is what motivates me to continue donating to UNICEF.

I know that my donations will get to the right people and assist them in their trouble. It makes me feel that I have done something special for those in need. I also believe UNICEF to be a worthy organisation and one which will use the money efficiently where it is most needed.

- Sheelagh, a UNICEF Donor.

It seemed to me, after working with various other organizations, that UNICEF is the most focused on children's needs and the most able. I feel I am able to make a difference no matter how big the task is with an organisation that never gives up!
